End-of-life discussions can be hard, so we want to take the time for you to feel heard about any concerns you have and make recommendations to best counsel you through. We will discuss assessing your pet’s current quality of life, and if possible, ways to improve his or her quality of life for the time being. Your pet might be struggling with daily activities like walking or going to the bathroom. We have lots of tips for interim steps before end-of-life discussions begin. Palliative Care
We can help improve your pet’s quality of life by utilizing different approaches to medicine, as well as pain management and supportive care. Anything we can do to help ease your pet’s anxiety that often accompanies aging will be discussed. We’ll help you navigate what to change about your pet’s lifestyle and routines. We can also call in specialists and partners for additional opinions and advice if necessary. We want your pet to be as comfortable as possible in the time they have left with you and your family.
Euthanasia services
Eventually, you may notice your pet’s quality of life has diminished so much that you are ready to discuss an end-of-life plan for your pet. We are here to answer all of your questions about the process and help with the emotional weight this decision can carry. We can take as much time as you need to help you feel comfortable with your pets peaceful transition. We are here to support and respect your wishes above anything else.
At Patriot Animal Hospital, we are happy to cater to your family and your pet’s needs during this sensitive and emotional time. You can spend as much time with your pet before, during, and after the end-of-life process.
We have a living-room-style “comfort room” at our hospital with its own exit, so you can leave the hospital when you’re ready without walking through the lobby.
Please know that humane euthanasia does not hurt your pet. Your pet will feel like he or she is falling asleep. And we are here to comfort you as your pet makes their way across the rainbow bridge.
